Lei Chambris

I’m still not sure what it means, but Lei Chambris is an oasis. The property sits outside the tiny village of Salernes in the beautiful countryside of southern France. It’s off the beaten path and the owner, Pamela, has been very kind to us. We share a small stone cottage with our new friend Kirstin from New Zealand. We spend the mornings doing odd jobs around the property and the rest of the day and weekends….well, doing whatever we want. Salernes is only about 20 minutes away by foot and has a wonderful market open every Sunday. We enjoy delicious bread, wine and fresh produce every day and are slowly learning French. It’s amazing how excited you get being able to order a coffee, ask how much something is or where the public restrooms are (and quickly!). Time has slowed down for us and we’ve begun to practice “l’art de vivre” (the art of living). Tasks and chores get done in their own time and your focus slowly leans towards good food, good company and good wine.
